Vince Hall LB 6’ 238 Virginia Tech

Hall has been a standpoint performer on the Hokie defense back to his redshirt freshman season in 2004. During that season, he had 64 tackles, 4.5 for loss, and a sack. He became a team leader as a sophomore, finishing the year with 112 tackles, 8.5 for loss, three sacks and two interceptions on the year. As a junior, he was an All ACC performer, as well as earning some All America honors. He had 128 tackles, ten for loss, and two sacks on the year. A fractured left wrist limited Hall to just nine games, but he still managed to finish the season with 92 tackles, 6.5 for loss, 3.5 sacks, and an interception.

Hall is a tough, relentless, and instinctive middle linebacker. He shows excellent instincts on the field, particularly in run support. He quickly reads the action and aggressively attacks the ball carrier. He moves well on plays in front of him and can close on the ball carrier. He will sift through traffic and keep going until he is in on the tackle.

Hall may be limited physically at the next level. He is short and may have maximized the bulk on his frame. If a blocker gets his hands on him, they can drive him out of the play and make him a non factor. Hall will battle, but sometimes he just cannot get off the block and make the play. He may also be limited to a two down role in the NFL, because he does not have the athleticism or change of direction skills to drop back and cover people down the field.

Hall has the intangibles and the instincts to be a starting middle linebacker in the NFL. His size may limit him some, but he can over come that. His inability to help out in coverage may be the thing that truly limits him. He will make an impact in stopping the run but he will need to demonstrate more ability in coverage to be an all around player.
